charley horse

the title means nothing. actually it means that i woke up in the middle of the night, not with a charley horse, but with thoughts of the noun charley horse stuck in my head and so i had to write it down.

i am adjusting to the use of a website for the furrows. i appreciate all the emails/comments i have received, so curtiously and efficiently sent. please relax a little. i worry about programmers. all that carpal tunnel and whatnot. i do have one other suggestion at the same time, ain’t i an oxymoron or a liar. anyway, i would love to have a larger space in which to write. i don’t like scrolling up and down so much. i would love to be able to read everything i am writing at the same time i am writing it. that’s how i work.

the idea of the word spewer is bloody brilliant, but i don’t mind homemade lists either. wouldn’t want the word furrow makeover to lapse into the scrap heap of “next large project”. i’m a little afraid of having millions of people joining our little league of furrowers. how does that work, when there are a bunch of people writing on here? i think it’s fun to use the word spewer as a giant spittoon into which we all contribute, but how do we keep track of leagues of avid writers? sounds about as cozy as a meth lab. would it just be a “friends and family” situation? i love intimacy, and that’s where the web and i tend to collide.

i can’t help being a romantic, every day waking with thoughts of herding corgis through copses and misty moors. even just now as they are envisioned in pennsylvania and not the isle of skye. i need to be a romantic, worlds away from the rump-sprung chairs of the office waiting room. the attorney finally got around to throwing out a couple of the chairs with the hirsute stuffing falling out the bottoms. kathy made him do it. he didn’t even know they were like that. hell, been like that for twenty years.

as an aside, i “finished” my cafepress site, without resorting to buying a new computer or getting any new software. sure, it looks like shyte, but at least it’s a start. i have great plans for it, even if i’m only one in eighty million shops on there and no one will ever see me. if you want to take a look at the mess i made all by myself, go to

Did you get the tip on the other post about pulling the writing window to be larger? The box you write in is itself resizable. If you hover your mouse over the lower right hand corner you should see it turn to a double pointed arrow. Just click there and drag. You can make it as long as you’d like. Do you see it?

Don’t worry about the leagues of avid writers. I will manage those. =) Actually the blog software itself will manage most of it, that’s why I chose it. I’m also going to add a feature, on request of Emily, so you can subscribe to get notifications from just the writers you want to read. So you should be able to have as much community as you want or don’t want.
