write anyway. cause you can’t stop the spew.
i was just dickin’ with photos and trying to figure out how to fix them real nice for the website and then i decided that now is not the time cause i have plum run out of patience this morning.
hamlet is asleep on his wonder bed, it comes with a built-in pillow area, and that’s where his head is plopped. he’s semi-curled, like a shrimp with its legs all folded. he looks extremely cozy and content, but i know deep down that he’s merely wasting time, just waiting for me to stop writing so i can go fix breakfast.
not his breakfast, but my breakfast. hamlet got fed at 6 a.m. after i took him out for a walk. hamlet comes first. this is how it goes, ALARM/PEE/SHOES & COAT/HAMLET OUTSIDE FOR WALK/HAMLET INSIDE FOR CARROTS/START COFFEE PREP/HAMLET PET FOOD IN BOWL/FINISH COFFEE PREP/TAKE COFFEE TO COMPUTER AND WRITE/FINISH WRITING/BEGIN HUMAN BREAKFAST PREP.
yes, hamlet eats carrots. and other vegetables. he eats almost everything, which can be quite shocking and annoying when we walk down city streets. only about 50% of the time i can yank whatever it is out of his mouth before he swallows it.
but besides that, he loves to get the apple pieces from my breakfast. every morning i throw pecans into a bowl, pour oats on top, then 2 scoops protein powder, a little cinnamon, some sugar, then soy milk or cow milk. i mix it up and slam it into the microwave. while this cooks, i remove an apple from the fridge. i wash it and start cutting it up. by this time hamlet is at my feet waiting. i slice the apple neatly, sort of how they do onions on those t.v. cooking shows. hamlet gets the end pieces and also the core, but i always prepare the core by cubing it, then by removing the seeds. the apple pieces are thrown onto the floor for hammy, and the ones for me get dumped into the bowl of oatmeal which has by now finished its spin in the microwave.
this is how every day starts. except for weekends, when i don’t set an alarm, and might sleep til 8 or so. that’s real late for me. hamlet never bugs me to get up. he’ll sleep until i’m ready. i like that about him. he’s not a nudger. nor a face licker.
he has a certain dog dignity.
