About/F.A.Q.
What is Wordlush?
This site is for people who want to have a regular writing practice, and share the results of that practice with other writers.
The theory being that:
- writing is more fun (and “better”) when you are in the flow
- flow requires regular practice
- having a place to come to post and a community encourages that practice
What kind of writing do people do?
All kinds. What you write is up to you: fiction, non-fiction, blog-style, poetry, or a mish-mash. The output may be ugly and messy or majestically brilliant, but that’s not the point. The point is to write. And to relax and enjoy it.
This is not a site to get critiques. This is meant to be joyful, energetic, raw spewing. Not shiny finished work. Just whatever comes out of you. This is a playground. Take risks, have fun!
What are the words on the homepage for?
Every day the site will list 7 new words on the homepage. They are also listed on the “Write Post” screen when you log in to your account. This is one kind of writing prompt. The original idea was to use all of the words in your post. Some people use just some of them, or start with one of them. Sometimes you may feel like doing something else entirely and not use the words. That’s OK! We encourage you to follow your inspiration and create from what is alive in you.
How do I play?
Register here if you want to join in. We will send you a password and you will be able to log in and write. Press “Write” along the top blue bar and you will see a screen where you can write your title and your post. Press “Publish” when you are done, or “Save” if you want to come back to it. Be sure to give it a title, at least a working one, when you start, because that will enable the auto-save feature.
Can I add words?
Yes, please do! After logging in, go to “Write” -> “Add Words”.
Can I stop people from commenting on my posts?
If you’d like, yes. On the right-hand side, under “Discussion”, you can turn comments off. If you are worried about comments however, please note that all comments are moderated by the site administrator and we won’t let anything through that is mean, spammy, etc.
How can I add my picture to my profile or edit my bio text?
Once you log in, click on ‘My profile’ in the upper right-hand corner. Here you can change your display name, website, bio, and upload a picture.
